In June you will find acres of Mountain Laurel; In autumn, the trees turn to glorious sunset hues; the area is beautiful any season. In addition to the headquarters office in Warren, the Forest Service maintains Ranger District offices in Elk, Forest, McKean and Warren Counties. All locations offer informational brochures & interpretive materials. The Allegheny National Forest (ANF) offers dynamic, always changing, growing and renewing sites. In 1923 the Forest Service began managing the ANF being one of the USDA Forest Service, it is the only one in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The motto "Land of Many Uses" emphasizes careful harvest of trees, watershed protections, varieties of wildlife in natural habitat and endless recreational opportunities that can be experienced in the ANF. Efforts are continually being made to sustain the finest hardwoods that are now abundant in the ANF. Conservation efforts are always being balanced and the Forest Service professional continue this practice in the care of the land and natural resources. For more information call 814-723-5150 |
